Delicious gelato! I highly recommend the Truffle Chocolate. The owners are so sweet and have authentic Italian dishes on their menu. A must stop when in Winter Park!

A very pleasant surprise. Wonderful authentic (in every way) Italian food.

Husband and I had an appointment in the area and stopped here for lunch, always interested in supporting our fellow Italians. The restaurant, which is quite small, is tucked around the corner of Park Ave. on Morse. We chose to sit outside because the weather was gorgeous and the setting was very Euro. We could have been in Rome had there been Vespa's parked on the sidewalks rather than an array of SUVs at curbside! There was a single server, Amy, working the tables and an obviously Italian man serving gelato. Amy was very pleasant, helpful and efficient. We were two of four but the tables began filling up shortly after we arrived at 12:30. Between the two of us, we ordered the pizza rosettes (mini-pizzas with one each of a meatball, an eggplant parmesan and a gorgonzola/artichoke. All were delicious and served atop a nice little mixed salad with a drizzle of balsamic. I would be hard pressed to pick my favorite. Hubby voted the meatball "best of show". We also, being the pigs that we are, ordered a large pizza which was NOT Americanized...as in loaded with cheesy, dripping grease with sweet pizza sauce. Very much like you'd find in Italy. Soft, doughy crust, thick on the rim and thinner in the center with fresh tasting sauce and what appeared to be a very high quality mozzarella. Half of it went home with us for dinner. Having saved room for a small gelato (which was large), we tried the pistachio (tasted like the nut rather than flavoring), raw vanilla (very light), cherry-vanilla and dark chocolate. Let's just say, a little goes a long way. It is very rich, has an authentic full-fat mouth feel and is to be savored rather than just slurped down. All in all, a very nice lunch with good Italian fare. We'll definitely return.

A precious cafe off of park avenue run by an Italian family. We often stop for pizza, glass of wine, and gelato. Highly recommend!! Our new favorite place.

Mama and I set out to Rome's Flavours since she was Jonesing for a Gelato fix. I on the other had wanted an actual lunch so this worked out well for the two of us today. We arrived and mama ordered a dish of Gelato with Dark Chocolate, Truffle and Caramel as her flavor combination. had all of them in the past so I just let her enjoy her dish of Gelato and that she did. I chose to have a side salad topped with Gorgonzola and the Mercati Traianei (Old farmers' market) pizza. The owner came out and let me know that they now make their meatballs in house and insisted I try them. So much for this being a light lunch... lol My salad was brought to me and OMG was it gorgeous. All of the ingredients were fresh as can be and the combination of ingredients was extraordinary. The picture does not do that salad justice and one of my biggest complaints is a wimpy side salad. This was definitely NOT wimpy! The meatballs were brought out and from scratch makes a world of difference. The combination of meat used was spot on. There was just the right amount of cheese mixed in and they were cooked up perfectly. They were topped with an al fresco sauce and some cheese and not OVERDONE at all. Next up was my pizza and the crust was just like pap and I used to make it as a kid. The sauce was a wee bit heavy but the flavor of the sauce was delicious. The amount of bacon and onion was just right and the cheese was wonderful. Because the sauce was a bit heavy the cheese tended to slide off the pizza as you ate it. That is a combination I will use one of my flat bread pizzas I make at home. WELL DONE! I will have to say that the quality of service has been stepped up since my first visit here. The girls that were serving seemed to work fluidly as a team and that really made for a great dining experience. Service was a bit off the first trip here but that seems to have been addressed and it made all the difference. The owner let me know that they have a new pasta machine and are fine tuning the recipe for the pasta they plan to offer in the future. I am so looking forward to tasting it and will be glad to let you know if they hit it out of the park of not. It is getting harder and harder to find places that make pasta from scratch these days so that will be a nice touch!

The two times that I've been here, I have had very different experiences. The first time the food was incredible and, as several other reviewers have mentioned, very authentic. Try the pizzas for sure- the Colloseo is my favorite! However, the last time I went, my pasta sauce was very heavily salted. The servers were great and nice enough to take it back (something I never ask), but I'll hesitate to order the pasta in the future.

The gelato here is as good as in Rome. Try the gnocchi and lasagna. Authentic and made fresh by the owners who by the way are very sociable, accommodating, personal and friendly. This place will be on my frequent restaurant list for sure!

So now that Rome's Flavors offers a full lunch and dinner menu, I was very eager to try it. Their gelato was very much the authentic gelato I enjoyed in Italy, as I mentioned in my first review. We stopped by for lunch, and I chose the Sangiovese di Romagna, 2011, for wine. We were served some tiny flat squares for bread, which were tasty...but seemed like pizza crusts pieces? I wasn't sure what it was, and the waitress never told us it was coming or what it was when she dropped it off. Some of the pieces had black pepper on it. The pastas on the menu all say "Authentic Pasta" and have a disclaimer that it takes 20 minutes to make as it's made to order. When I asked the waitress if they made their pasta in-house, her response was that they make it "to order"...which didn't really answer my question, but I knew they were busy so didn't clarify. I ordered the spaghetti with grilled chicken. It came out piping hot, actually too hot to to eat. But once it cooled down a bit I took a bite. The noodles were cooked a bit al-dente, which isn't my favorite but was ok. The sauce used is San Marzano which is very authentic, but there was very little seasoning in the sauce. No basil or anything to give it some boost. Lastly, the noodles themselves seemed no different than some Barilla pasta I would cook at home. I struggled to realize the difference between "made to order" if it's the same thing I'd make at home with noddles from the grocery store. In either case, I ate most of the pasta. I will definitely come back and try the Bolognese and pizzas, but so far the pasta didn't win me over when I compare it to the handful of others Italian restaurants who produce their own pasta, have creative seasonings and flavors, for about the same price.

Very friendly people and real home made Italian food. Prices were reasonable. Reading some of the other reviews I think they've never been to Italy before, and have only experienced americanized Italian food in big restaurants with a chubby Italian statue dude outside with a chalk board menu. Maybe you should go to olive garden where you can eat like pigs for $12.99. This is not that place. We had home made lasagna, Fettuccini, spaghetti, and the gelato. It's small so you need a reservation on a Saturday night.

Super friendly service, a great location, and some of the best gelato I've ever had. I will surely return to try some of their food!

Having been exposed to a lot of Italian food in Italy in the old days myself, I must say that this restaurant does not just come close to it, but it is par, period. The pizza's great and the pasta too. The gelato is as creamy and quality as from the homeland. The staff is also very friendly and humble. What should I say, best Italian experience I had in the States so far.

Nearly a decade ago I traveled to Italy with my family for what ensued to be a two week culinary tour around the country. From gelato shops tucked away on cobblestone streets to endless carbs and an epic four hour dinner with locals, I quickly became smitten with anything Italian. Fast-forward to this month and I finally experienced a taste of Italy among the chefs and swanky restaurants in Winter Park. Sure, any restaurant that serves pizza and pasta can claim Italian roots, but when you're actually from Rome and recently moved to the States, you get all the Italian bragging rights. Rome's Flavours' owners hail from Rome and are serving up the most authentic flavors and atmosphere in town. If you've ever traveled to Italy, you know that some of the best restaurants aren't fancy and flashy. This location is reminiscent of a quaint cafe that you'd stop in for a quick bite and end up staying for hours sipping wine, espresso and getting caught up in conversation. Well, that's exactly what happened during our recent visit. We tasted authentic pizza, wine, gelato and more over a lingering lunch. Their pizza is made from scratch including the sauce with real crushed tomatoes. We ordered the #2 per the owner's recommendation, our slices were cheesy, warm and sauced to perfection. After slowly enjoying our pizza and salad, we couldn't refuse the gelato. Similar to the pizza, the gelato is made from scratch and delicious. Go for the pistachio for something creamy, but not overly sweet. And be sure to end your meal with an espresso for the ultimate Italian experience. Ciao! I'm off to plan (well okay, dream) about my next trip to Italy.

Friendly staff and amazing gelato. I didn't sample many flavors because the Tiramisu and Stracciatella helped me made up my mind pretty quick. I will definitely stop by next time when I'm in the mood for gelato.

This place has really good gelato. Unfortunately, I think the entire menu is overpriced. We ordered a tiny pizza and a large pizza with 2 side salads. The salads were sooooo small. Just ridiculously small!!! The pizzas were okay. Yes the food was edible. But our entire bill was $65 with tip and frankly that is just TOO much considering the size of the meal. Our favorite place is Mel's at Lowes Portofinos resort and that my friends is the BEST pizza and salad you'll ever have, right by the water with live Italian opera. Huge fire oven pizzas with huge salads. $60 will fully feed a family of 6 with drinks! This place however. Ugh I feel like I washed my money down the drain. It didn't even include drinks. The owners seemed nice and all. But the place was empty and had such a dead vibe. Will not be coming back.

Pizza is unique and one of a kind. Family owned with real authentic Italian cuisine. The owners are from Italy and give you the service of a lifetime. Nothing compares to walking in and seeing the smile on these guys faces because they want you to truly enjoy yourself!! Brilliant!

One of my favorite things to do on the weekend is explore Park Avenue. Yesterday, my friend and I found this place, and decided to give it a try. The indoor seating area is small, but it is a beautiful space. The staff was also very professional and helpful. I ended up making my own sandwich, with prosciutto, mozzarella, and some vegetables. The only criticism I had about the sandwich was that they needed to trim some of the fat off of the prosciutto, as there was too much! Even with this, it was a very delicious meal, and wasn't expensive at all! Their pizzas also look amazing. Next time I come in I will have to splurge and try one of their gelato flavors, as they had a lot to choice from.

I work pretty close to here, so I stop by and get lunch often. It's probably one of my favorite places to eat on park ave, since it's opened up. The food is fresh and always delicious. You can tell that it's certainly authentic! My favorite thing is their gelato! Oh my god it's the best! If anything, you need to stop by and try that out. Forget all the other ice cream joints on the avenue! The staff is always very friendly and helpful so thats definitely a huge plus!

My wife and I found this wonderful surprise and it far and away surpassed our expectations. The setting was simple yet intimate. THe service was very good. The Mercati Traianei pizza for 2 thrilled our pallet with the combination of flavors. Clearly, each pizza is individually prepared. Brilliant. We'll be back to try the rest of the menu!

I enjoyed this place very much, and I would definitely rank it in the top 5 Italian restaurants in Orlando. I think there will be a lot of comparisons with Rome's Flavours and Trevi Pasta. In terms of pasta, the sauces here blow Trevi Pasta out of the water. I've never had a red sauce taste so fresh yet rich. Pasta was cooked perfectly. The addition of the meatballs was well worth the money. It was full of flavor and incredibly tender. The pizza seemed to be the go to item for the rest of the people in the restaurant, so maybe I missed the memo? The gelato was another draw to the restaurant for me. Flavors were pretty traditional. Many may be excited by 2 different Nutella gelatos! Both of them were fantastic. I also enjoyed the panna cotta flavored gelato as well. It didn't have that same beautifully rich texture as the other flavors. I would give the nod to Trevi for their gelato. Service was really friendly and helpful. It was a really nice touch that the owners sent us off with a personal goodbye. I did laugh a bit when they put 30% as a suggested tip on the bill. I think I'd need a good foot message or something else to give that out as a tip at any restaurant. I left pleasantly full. The bill for a bowl of pasta, a glass of wine, and 3 scoops of gelato was a little over 30 including tip. So the bill adds up surprisingly quick, but it was definitely worth it.

Grilled veggie salad is delicious. The bread with cheese and balsamic is delicious. I have always had good meals here. Fresh and never over seasoned etc. this place is way better than al bacio including the service.

  • Shawn S.

Molto buona! I've had the lasagna and pizza. Both tasted fresh and good. The pizza is simple, and not like Americanized Chicago or NY style. Save room for dessert or just stop by for dessert - best gelato in town - and yes I've searched all over.

I went here with a group of friends and had a delicious and fun meal! The location is great, right off park Ave. We had an extra large pizza half colosso and half veggie as well as the penne pesto and spaghetti bolognese. Everything tasted home made and like authentic Italian. I'm sad I didn't get an gelato but that give me a reason to come back!

Hands down the best pizza in Orlando! Tucked away on a cozy side street this place has the perfect atmosphere for a wonderful night out. Great wine selection & the best pizza dough I have ever tasted! Can't wait to go back!

I went to Rome's Flavours last night and had a great time! The owners are very very nice and are actually from Italy. My family is Italian and we went to Italy this summer, and I can tell you that the gelato at Rome's Flavours is fabulous! They have a wide variety of options (the coffee is my favorite) and are very generous with their gelato samples. The inside is very clean and well decorated and their prices are very reasonable, especially for Park Ave. I am excited to come back and try their pasta and piazza!

Best gelato in Orlando, it tastes fresh and the texture is perfect, not too dense, not too runny, reminds me of my days ordering fresh gelato in Germany...!

My husband and I just enjoyed our second experience here. We were so impressed the first time with the freshness and quality of ingredients that is so hard to come by in the U.S. The owner makes the gelato in house! Try the affogato with hazelnut mmm. The pizza is delicious and reminds of us our time in Italy. We'll keep making the drive to Winter Park as long as this place is here.

  • Celine C.

We came here to try out their gelato and indeed it was delicious. You can pick 3 different flavors for only $4 and change! It was a great price. I only tried the nutella hazelnut flavor because I thought it was weird to mix hazelnut flavor with others flavors such as mango and strawberry. The gelato was very rich in hazelnut flavor. Texture is smooth and made just right. I do wish they put little bits of hazelnut in it to give it a little crunch. The guy behind the counter who helped us with the gelato was very friendly and smiled to us. However, I would recommend the cashiers and the hostess to smile a little more. I felt a little unwelcome when I walked in since she told us that we couldn't sit at the tables because it was for their dining customers. I definitely understand and don't want to take up their tables for just gelato but I think there's a nicer way to approach the gelato customers.

This place was great. Took my family to Winter Park for dinner and we just happened to find this place because it was off to the side. We all got different things but I got the pizza sicilia which is the Eggplant one and it was good. Also they have gelato, try the Ecstasy of Nutella, you're welcome.

  • Todd L.

il piu delicioso gelato a Orlando. Seriously good, rich, and smooth! I had the milk chocolate that was more like dark chocolate flavor and not super sweet. I tried multiple unique flavors. All good. Even the Gorgonzola. Yup.

  • Chris R.

This place has about a dozen gelatos. One was very strange, Gorgonzola gelato! I tried it, it was an interesting flavor. Didn't have a strong aftertaste and I think it works. They had a coffee gelato as well that wasn't sweetened and the nice lady said it was basically just coffee frozen. They had a few pizzas and pastas that honestly didn't look that appetizing but it was very late in the day and they were closing soon. I'll be back to try some food and some more interesting gelatos.

  • Charles O.

The food is very fresh, all natural, home made, and truly a taste of real Italian Rome taste. The Gelato reminds me of the great gelato in Italy! Their pesto and pasta salad had incredible fresh flavor. We also had the cornucopia and the rose pizzas. They were both so delicious. Spoke with the owner who was so genuine and nice. She focus on making everything from fresh ingredients. A must try!

This is a hidden jewel in Winter Park. The pizza is delicious. The crust is hand stretched with excellent ingredients whether you chose the simple Margarita or one of the more complex pies. Add salad and leave room for their home made gelato which is the best I have had in town and an expresso to finish.

  • Josh M.

Gelato was delicious! Get the tiramisu (made with blends from the chefs homemade tiramisu) and the stracciatella. Owner was really nice and moved to Florida from Rome recently. Great people with authentic ingredients!

I was walking by and checked out the menu. Young lady came out and told me about the restauant and owners. I was really going out for a small salad down the street. Glad I did not. It was one of the best pizzas I have had. I know my pizza and would put it up with any NY/Nj pie. I now an going to try their other food.

By far the softest most bestest texture gelato i've ever had. The only thing holding then back is there selection.

A friend wanted to have Sunday lunch around Park Ave so I that is exactly what we did..We walked up and down Park Ave looking for something, she was craving pizza and before we came to Park Ave I was playing around on Yelp and came across Rome's Flavours so when we came on Morse I suggested that we try this place. First, the staff is very pleasant and helpful! (major plus) The decor was soo cute I love how clean everything looks, puts me at ease (but don't get me wrong I also do LOVE LOVE my dive's too). We ordered two glasses of wine I got the merlot (only one type on the menu) and my friend got a glass of white (can't remember what type). We ordered Rome Flavour's pizza (regular size which is big enough for two to eat), rome flavor's salad and the owner suggested that Lasagna which was a special and it is cooked with an amazing bolognese! The food was really good, and came out pretty quick, also the food and drink is pretty well priced. We also asked if they could make us an affogatto (which is gelato in espresso) since they have gelato and espresso! They made us both affogatto's which were delish! (i had hazelnut) I need to talk about the lasagna....IT WAS AMAZING!!!!!!! I was originally planning on just having the salad but I am sooo soo happy that they had recommended trying the lasagna because I have never had a lasagna like it. All of the lasagnas that I have tried in my past were basically the same flavor as a basic lasagna kind of like what you would find at the olive garden (yeah i can't believe that i used to like that place, something was seriously wrong with my brain, the red sauce is soo acidic YUCK)....this was nothing like the olive garden lasagna, this was like bethovan's 5th sympothy! it was the right amount of meat, cheese, pasta, everything about it was amazing!!! the only sad part is the lasagna is not a staple of the menu, it's a special... It was soo good i had to get a piece togo so I could give it to my husband to try.....only thing is it was sooo good he never got to try it !!! Soooo now you're probably asking me why 4 stars instead of 5, that is because when they were clearing our table a fork had fallen into my lap and whatever was on it had stained my clothing, they said sorry but that was about it. I am not a person to make a big deal about something like that because stuff happens but it did stain my shirt, which I noticed when I handed them back the fork but I didn't want to ruin the good lunch my friend and I were having....So if it wasn't for that incident I definitely would have done 5 stars.

Rome's Flavors is a fantastic place for authentic Italian cuisine. Located just off the beating path, it's the perfect place to stop in for a great meal or just coffee and dessert. The food is priced well and service is very friendly. Definitely going to be a regular here.

Great new casual Italian place on the avenue! The owner is very gracious and friendly and full of suggestions. I ordered the Mercati Traianei pizza and it was very good. They allow the crust to rise for 48-72 hours and it's so fresh and crispy. They also have tons of different flavors of gelato as well as a full menu of pasta, pizza, small bites, and wine!

Wow.. I am impressed... I consider myself a pizza connoisseur and this place is awesome ... We also had the most delicious salad that had. Chicken w arugula and a balsamic reduction ... Then we had this 3 roses thingy...I am blown away ... Great food from real friendly Italians

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
